Estimates for Preferred Earnings

  • SmartEstimate
  • Mean

  • Predicted Surprise %
  • Low and High estimates
If the Predicted Surprise or Predicted Surprise % round to zero, they will be shown as a dash. If the Predicted Surprise Flag for a period is 1, the text of the Predicted Surprise % will be green. If the Predicted Surprise Flag for a period is -1, the text of the Predicted Surprise % will be red. If the mean for a period is smaller than the minimum divisor for the given currency, a > or < symbol will appear in front of the Predicted Surprise % value.

You can view the Estimates Detail for a fiscal period by selecting the "View Detail" link for the period. You can also click on a chart in order to bring up a larger version of it.

Mean Changes for Preferred Earnings
The first Mean Changes section displays the changes in the mean earnings estimate for each of the periods over four time intervals: 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days. It also displays the stock price change over the same intervals. A dash appears when either the starting or ending value of the mean (or price) is not available.

Mean Changes for Revenue
The second Mean Changes section displays the changes in the mean revenue estimate for each of the periods over four time intervals: 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days. It also displays the stock price change over the same intervals. A dash appears when either the starting or ending value of the mean (or price) is not available.

Recommendation History
The table on the left side of the Recommendation History section shows the number of analysts with a recommendation at each level as of various points in time over the past 90 days. The average of the analysts' recommendations, on a scale of 1 (Strong Buy) to 5 (Strong Sell), appears as the bottom line of each column in the table. You can view the Recommendation Detail by selecting the "View Recommendation Detail" link.

The 1 to 5 rankings make it possible to evaluate analyst recommendations in a consistent manner. For example, one broker's highest recommendation may be "Buy", another's may be "Long Term Buy", and another may use the term "Outperform" for its highest recommendation. In StarMine Professional, we use the generic labels of Strong Buy, Buy, Hold, Sell, and Strong Sell to represent the numerical recommendation values of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively.

The recommendation chart plots the mean recommendation (in bronze) and the stock price (in gray) for one of several available time periods. A vertical, green dotted line indicates the date of an earnings report. If you choose to include a benchmark index on the chart, your preferred benchmark will appear as a dotted black line. To change your preferred benchmark, visit the Preferences page in the Tools section.
